Flipping and flopping

Flip-flop for the Bride!

To quote The Manolo, AYYYYYYYY!

I have this image in my mind of a crowded space full of guests. The organist begins playing the bridal march and a hush falls over the crowd. The bride slowly makes her way onto the aisle. Before the guests ever see her, however, they hear her…FWAP! FWAP! FWAP! go her dainty feet as she makes her way toward marital bliss. Does the groom run like hell? Do the older ladies cluck their tongues? Maybe. Maybe not. But what bride wants to run that risk?

The bridal flip-flop, it appears to be made of the Styrofoam. Even if it is not, it has the look of something to be found in the clearance bin at Walgreens shortly after the Day of Labor. If the bride must insist on the “informal” white shoe then she can buy the canvas Keds for twenty-five of the American dollars and save herself some money.

No one seriously thinks this is a bridal shoe right? This is clearly the wedding-themed pre-game/post-game backup footwear, for while the bride is getting her makeup and hair done, or perhaps after the festivities when she needs comfy bridal relief footwear.

Brittany Spears, who is the consummate fan of the flip flops, no doubt has sung the priases of the white bejeweled matrimonial flip flop.

My cousin’s bride and the bridesmaids wore flip flops to her wedding. Ah well, I guess it made the guests who were wearing shorts and t-shirts feel a little less out of place.

Need I say that three months later, my mother hasn’t received a thank-you note for the gift she gave the couple?

Eek! I feel nothing but pain for your mother, Lori. There are few things I dislike more than those who have not been schooled in the art of the thank you note.

Aaaayyyyy! I must have these flip flops before tomorrow night! They are perfect for the wearing on the Yom of the Kippur, when it is traditional to wear white but one may not wear the shoes of the leather according to the laws of the Judaism! And I live in the Jerusalem, where the weather it is still warm enough to justify the wearing of the summer beach shoes!

I wore a nice pair of very uncomfortable shoes for my wedding. But halfway through the reception, I changed into a pair of white J Crew flip flops. My dress was long, covered the whole thing. No one ever knew and my feet and back were very happy.

I see many pretty bridal shoes on this site, but none look like they would be comfortable to wear through a wedding and reception. For my wedding, I went to a local dance studio to order a pair of dancing shoes. They are made to be comfortable, many styles are available with multiple options (heel height, heel width, etc.), and a lot of them are available in white satin (to be dyed to match a dancing costume). Since I ordered a popular style, the dancing studio let me order two sizes and kept the one that didn’t fit. It worked out very well for me.

Dancing shoes are a great option, Carol! Ballroom heels are made to be danced in :-)
