A sweet idea

Choco strawberry cake

If you’re not much of a cake fan, but want to have a little something sweet (and special) with which to conclude your wedding, the Cake Guys of Texas have come up with a compromise.

This fabu cake is surrounded by yummy chocolate covered strawberries. They say compromise is the key to any long lasting relationship and this cake reflects that. Those who like cake can eat cake and those who like fruit can eat fruit. If no one likes cake, a similar effect could be obtained by piling up those chocolate strawberries and making a fruity little topper, as shown:

A fruity bride and groom

This could also be a fun do-it-yourself project for the resourceful bride and groom.

Our cake used fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries & raspberries) as a layer filling, the cake stand was decorated with more berries and then we had a bowl of extra berries for folks who didn’t want cake. We wanted a normal cake, but needed to accomodate some vegan and health conscious guests, and it was an ideal solution.

I love the little bride and groom strawberries though… they’re sooooo cute!

This is a good idea for people with gluten intolerance, like me (gluten is a protein in wheat and oats). A few plain berries would be considerate of guests who have diabetes or lactose intolerance.

And yes, the bride and groom strawberries are adorable!

    That sounds tasty, jj!

I do enjoy cake, but if there were fresh berries at a wedding I attended, I’d probably go for those. They’re often quite expensive, so I’d jump at the chance to have a plateful! Plus, berries are uber healthy!

I love the little pearl on his “hanky.”

I fear I would have to forego this delectable cake. There’s just something so unattractive about the bride fending off the guests with a cake knife – at least in my opinion. Plus, I would probably be berry remorseful if I ate the whole thing myself -in one way or another.

    Berries! Num, num, yummmmm ….

I think they could have designed the cake better so it didn’t look like they were just throwing strawberrys wherever there was a flat space.
Bride and Groom strawberries are very cool!
