A little stretch

By Never teh Bride

Lady in green

I’m really liking this super glam satin bridesmaid gown from PacificPlex. I’m a big fan of dresses with a little stretch and dresses that feature ruching. If it has lumps on purpose, no one’s going to notice the lumps that aren’t supposed to be there. The gown, which also comes in a jewel-like fuscia, red, gold, blue, and pink, has a matching chiffon scarf that’s great for covering up the shoulder area.

My only beef is the flat front panel that could reveal a little too much about my exercise habits. Of course, if I wore this dress in a wedding party, you know I’d be sporting my control top tights.

Spanx’s High-Waisted Power Panty is the way to go…no leg band = no thighs that look like they are springing from sausage casing, and it goes all the way up to your bra. I wore a pair under a slinky silk dress to a friend’s wedding and had no worries about tummy bulges, panty lines, or anything else unseemly for the rest of the night.

Wow, Bria, that sounds absolutely amazing! I wonder if I wore one every day would my body eventually assume that shape :-)

  3. Annalucia Says:

The Annalucia wishes to second the Bria’s recommendation of the Spanx, not only of the Power Panties but of the Bra-llelujah (yes, that is its name). Remarkably comfortable considering their ability to prevent the jiggles and the bulges. And no, the Annalucia does not work for the Spanx and nobody has paid her to endorse their products; she merely likes them very, very much.

She also finds the bridesmaid’s gown very pretty (though she hopes the ruching is not drawn too tightly across the derriere). She is surprised, however, to see it offered in black (?) and even white (!!!). If she had to pick an available color she would choose the blue. Bridesmaids come in many colors, and the blue seems most likely, if not to flatter a wide array of skin tones, at least not to swear at them.

I believe that the black is for the girls who are eyeing this little number as a prom dress. But I don’t know about the white. Maybe a possibility for a glamorous wedding?

I would opt for the Slim Cognito seamless shaper instead of the Power Panties for that dress. The non-seamless Spanx sport a gnarly seam straight up the front that would make the wearer of that dress look like she’s smuggling a small mountain range on her tummy.

I’m getting this dress - http://www.photosbykim.com/portfolio/fashion/images/f12.jpg - in ivory, and the side detailing and waist seaming are much more forgiving than all the other satin sheath dresses that have broken my heart.

    Ooh, that’s gorgeous, alex!!
