Star Trek weddings

I am unusually fascinated by Star Trek themed wedding. I’ll admit it, I like Star Trek - but that doesn’t mean I’d want to plan my wedding around Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future.
In Googling various Trek and wedding related subjects today, I came across StarTrekWeddings.com. They will plan a Star Trek wedding fit for a ferengi.
Far from being tied to the Star Trek niche market, however, these wedding planners will craft just about any theme wedding you can imagine in any Las Vegas locale. Hey, different strokes for different folks. And as long as I’m not called upon to be a Borg bridesmaid, I’m game.

(shrugs) I guess to each their own. I’m a bit of a Trekkie myself, but it would never have ocurred to me to have a Star Trek wedding. Now as a renewal of vows, I might be able to be talked into something a bit OTT, but I think suggesting something like that would terrify my beloved. ; )

The best reason to have a ST wedding, IMO, would be to freak out the more conservative members of my family. It would be comedy gold!

Leonard Nimoy sometimes comes into my roommate’s bookstore. I told her the next time he comes in, she has to squee on my behalf. Of course, she thinks I am a dork and ignores me but Spock RULES!

Woah, Gigilo Kitty, I’m jealous! I never got to sell books to a Vulcan. Okay, I did sell books to the creator of Peanuts and an Olympic Gold Medalist (Scott Hamilton is beyond adorable up close and personal!), but no Star Trek folk. Ah well.

Dang— I can’t believe they didn’t have the bridesmaids decked out like the various seductive but volatile females always were on the show! I’d totally jump at the chance to wear a shiny minidress, gold go-go boots and 3″ eyelashes to a wedding and not be frowned upon. Talk about lost opportunites!…
