Those fake flowers look real enough to me; and this way your frosting doesn't taste like you breathed in the bathroom air-freshener, expecially after it's been baking in the heat for four hours. I helped my florist sister-in-law decorate a cake almost exactly like this one day when she was in over her head. Between the two of us, we managed to collapse the top layer onto the middle layer while adjusting the flowers (they'd already stacked everything before we got there). But it's amazing what you can cover up with loose rose petals! Just don't tell the bride... I think it’s a lovely cake! I have yet to catch a bouquet, but it's too late: I'm married. Maybe you can "save up" bouquet-catchings in case you need them later... Your aunt and her fab $50 dress sound like a woman after my own heart. Yay for her! And Yay for the buffet! With buffets you don't feel quite so silly eating 3rds or 4ths of your favorites, because unless someone's watching you and keeping tally with a pencil and legal-pad <i>no one will ever know!</i> (*Ahem.* I should mention that I usually wear a girdle if I suspect that the wedding luncheon will be worth digging into.)
