Manolo, I agree that most of the shoes of Peter Fox are very odd and I would not touch them with a ten foot pole, let alone my wallet, but there are tw or three which would be nice looking with a certain kind of dress, on a somewhat adventurous bride.

That said, I think the Medieval Moccasins website which La BellaDonna provided is a much nicer option for the ghilly-obsessed bride, and also would be so much easier on my wallet. Twistie, I think it is simply fabulous that you wore red ghillies with your wedding dress! Red is my favorite color, and I would love to have a pair of red ghillies, since I would probably actually wear them again. What a wonderful idea. The future Mr. Jane's tartan is not predominantly red, but there is a red check, which I think is enough to warrant red shoes.

NtB, if you find ballet flats comfortable (some people don't, but I love them), then you will find ghillies comfortable. Some women think that flat shoes are unflattering to the leg, since the right kind of heel makes your legs look longer, but I've got slender dancer's legs and will be wearing a floor-length dress, so that's not an issue. It will only be a struggle to keep from jigging down the aisle!

Ah! Jane and Twistie, below is the link I was trying to find earlier; it has the examples of some really, REALLY dressy ladies' ghillies. (Not that there's anything wrong with the ghillies at Renboots, but these are definitely for folks who are looking for the unusual.) Metallic gold, anyone? I know I want 'em. :) And Twistie, purple is one of their standard colours on offer.

And they're washable. Yes, washable leather.

It's something to consider for those of us who'd like something summery - in a boot. I love the summer sandals the Manolo shows, but there's no way I can wear them. Ever.

At least, not standing.

They're fabulously comfy, NtB! I wore my dancing shoes through about seven hours of photos, marrying, dancing, and mingling and my feet were fine at the end of the day. And that's the dancing version which have no - I say again NO - arch support, but do have paper thin soles. These lovely boots La Bella Donna guided us to (thanks, LBD!) look like they have plenty of support. I want a pair right now. (pets pretty ghillie boots) I wonder if I can get them in purple....

If you like the look, see if you can find something ghillie-like to try on and see if you like it on your foot. I always feel that's the real test of a shoe. If it looks and feels good on your foot, you've got a winner.

Jane, there's a website out there in Webland that makes ghillie boots - and you bet I want a few pair (starting with black, red, white and nude, then getting creative). Would a pair of white ghillie boots go with your wedding dress?

The Manolo he must gently chide his friends about the horror that are the shoes of the Peter Fox.

There is something very odd and yet very appealing about the shoes of the Fluevog, however, for the Manolo, most of the shoes of the Peter Fox (with the few exceptions which undoubtedly are those that have been seen by the Manolo's friends) to be very odd and not at all appealing

I must admit I prefer a lot of the Peter Fox shoes to the Vogs, but I can't imagine paying that much for a pair of shoes unless I could wear them for a hell of a lot more than one day. Then again, no flats. Heels are not my friends.

Still, if a woman's got more grace than I and the bucks to spend, either is a terrific way to go. I'm glad someone is putting out bridal shoes that don't look hopelessly staid and frumpy.

Then again, I didn't buy special shoes for my wedding. I wore my little red dancing ghillies, and they looked adorable peeking out from under my skirt. Plus they matched my Dress MacDonald arisaide!

Momghee, thanks so much for that site! As much as I twitch at the thought of wearing a shoe called "River Dance," I am a former Irish stepdancer, and planning to have a traditional Scottish plaid sash in the future Mr. Jane's family tartan as part of my wedding get-up (sometime in the next three years, sigh), so those shoes with ghilly ties would be just fabulous!
