FYI, a friend of mine sent itty-bitty postcards as RSVP cards. They were cute, but I live outside of the US, and they were (get this) too small to be sent airmail. Apparently there is a minimum size as well as a maximum. So I had to go back home and put it in an envelope and then back to the post office. I'm sure this isn't a problem everyone has to deal with, but it's something I think about now that I'm planning my wedding overseas.

My fiancé and I did our own invitations... and everyone said they're beautiful. Cost us under $100 for the paper, postage and ribbons. We did RSVP cards as postcards, saving both postage and ensuring that everyone can just throw them back in the mail to us.

It's not quite wedding materials, but Target had their wedding gift bags and tissue paper on clearance last week. I haven't been back since to know if they still are on sale. However, I stocked up for the summer wedding season without paying more than $1.50 for anything - not even the really big and decorative bags.

I was out shopping for GK (yeah, it takes up a LOT of my time) and I noticed that even Staples was carrying specialized "make you own invitations" packages complete with pretty card-stock and trimmings. A friend of mine printed all her Save The Date and Invitations on her home ink-jet color. They were really professional looking jobs (her fiance was a graphics designer so that may have helped).

And if you live in NYC, please visit the wholesale district near the Herald Square Macy's. Some of them will sell to retail (just look at the signs on the doors) and several bridal stores sell stuff for amazingly cheap.
