Yeah: the worst thing about most flower girls’ dresses is that the darn things are dry clean only! I don’t know about anyone else’s children, but my girls (and I) are about as delicate as little piggies at a trough when they eat [though heaven knows they try], complete with wiping their hands on the fronts of their __________ (fill in the blank: dress, shirt, pants, etc.) when they’re done.

But I love the extra-high empire waist (a la “Pride and Prejudice”); and any little girl would love the flowy skirt. WARNING, THOUGH: every flower girl dress my daughters have ever worn (we have big families) with overskirts like this end up with the overskirt ripped out of the waistband before the day’s half-over. Kids tend to trip/step on the overskirts when they get up off the ground, bend over, climb stairs…you name it.

Ooooo… I love that dress! So many flower girl dresses are so fussy and overdone that you can hardly see the darling little girl underneath. That dress is adorable, but still elegant. Plus I love the bare feet! What a cutie!

Storybook Heirloom is the bomb! Though I have to declare that I am NOT a fan of matching plaid for the whole family. It’s a little creepy.

Cristina, I totally hear ya! My ideal flower girl dress would be a deep pink eyelet sundress and orange flipflops. And maybe wings. But as I don't have kids I'm incredibly ignorant and having real trouble tracking dresses down! However, Storybook Heirloom has some beautiful dresses.

Oh, and yay to not tarting little girls up with spadefuls of makeup! This kid is too adorable to do that to her. She looks like something out of an alternate Kate Greenaway Mother Goose in that dress. Adorable.

I love it! But my problem with flower girl dresses in silk is that they’re delicate–that thing will be full of chocolate, tree sap, lily pollen, somebody’s lipstick, and maybe a foot print in an hour or too. What about flower girl dresses in (washable) cotton? I love a fine eyelet, but had a rough time finding some…
