Good photos, guaranteed

She hired the wrong photographer - now look at her!

Brides and grooms put a lot of trust in their wedding vendors. Especially in their photographer. Consider that long after the last crumb of cake has been eaten and the flowers are dead, the photos will still be around. Whether those pictures are displayed on the coffee table or hidden in the back of the bedroom closet, they are here to stay.

I came across a relatively new site called Pictage the other day which may take the gamble out of wedding photography. I mean, no matter how trustworthy a photog seems, you never can tell if he or she will snap shots of you slurping away at the afterparty beer bong. Pictage boasts not only a largish directory of quality participating photographers (with samples and reviews from real brides), but also a guarantee.

Pictage’s ‘Happy Bride Guarantee‘ states that if couples do not like the photos their chosen photographer has taken, they will work with them to obtain a full refund. Yes, that’s right. Full. Refunds. Amazing, no? How does it work? Apparently, brides- and grooms-to-be pay the photographers through Pictage, either in full or in installments. Weird, but not unheard of.

If nothing else, Pictage looks like a great way to find the perfect wedding photographer.

    That’s really a fabulous idea!

On a board I frequent, someone recently asked all the married women and men what, if anything, they would change about their weddings. The overwhelming top response was the photographer. Obviously it wasn’t a scientific sampling or anything, but that was the one I kept seeing over and over again. Some talked about how the pictures turned out, others about crass/offputting behavior, yet others about hassle with payments and deliveries.

Having a place you can go to find the style of photography you want at a price you’re willing to pay with reviews from former clients might help mitigate a few of these wedding woes.

Just as an experiment, I did a search for a photographer in my area. At the bottom rung of the price possibilities, I immediately found someone whose style I loved with nine happy brides recommending him already! If I needed a wedding photographer right now, I’d already be contacting him for details.

Klassy photo (above). Her black eye fits right in with the whole “Barroom Brawl” theme…

The first thought that crossed my mind was “who photographed the gang bang at OK corral?”

    ZING!

  5. 🙂 That’s actually not a real wedding photo; it’s from a college party. I can’t remember the details, but I think it was from a sports team hazing incident. Snopes probably has all the details somewhere!

Didn’t look real…unless the bride was picked up off the corner. No offense to the girl in the photo, but wow. Tone it down a little.
