Branch out with black and tan

By Never teh Bride

Nylon mesh dress

When I think ‘bridesmaid dress,’ the first thought that pops into my brain is not ‘nylon mesh.’ Visions of Duchess satin and various silks dance in my head. But there is no rule stating that bridesmaid dresses have to come from bridal salons or stores that deal specifically with wedding accoutrements. In fact, one can whip up a lovely bridal party using dresses from a variety of sources, including department stores, outlets, and fancy dress shops.

Case in point: The sassy black and tan nylon mesh dress above came from Newport News and would make a lovely bridesmaid dress. All I’m saying is that brides (and clothes conscious grooms) should never limit themselves by only browsing those products specifically designated for weddings.

While I’m not personally enthused with that particular dress, I couldn’t possibly agree more with the sentiment behind your post! Choosing bridesmaid’s dresses from a different source can save money, time, and endless resentment on the part of your closest friends.

I must say that it looks so much better (and more expensive) in person. I bought this to wear to a wedding this summer, and not to brag :) , but everyone loved it!

Yay! A real life endorsement from Natakie16!

I’ve been fascinated by this fabric combination lately, where in the past it has reminded me of “Fredericks of Hollywood,” and not in a good way. But I’ve seen several really lovely black-on-tan pieces lately, and I’m loving it! It’s perhaps a bit less “funereal” than straight black; and this particular style flatters a wide range of figures. You could add a nice cardigan or jacket for fall/spring. And how great is that price tag?!

I’ve actually seen that dress before and just love it, at least online.

Definitely going for the rewearable look with my girls dresses… Not with black and tan but something has to come in a nice shade of blue…

My cousin got married this month, and she picked these for her bridesmaid dresses. They looked really good. The dress is great because it works with many different body types, and looks elegant as well. The price cannot be beat!

It is the bride’s day. There is no reason that the bride has to have her girls shop at a bridal salon! She should choose whatever dresses she wants – and hopefully she is nice enough to allow some feedback from her bridesmaids!
