A bridal mini-buffet

First off, I want to say congrats to Rebecca and her fabulous Bianchi gown. Wait, I mean congrats to Rebecca and Josh, of course! But the dress was her mother’s, passed down from her oldest sister who wore it first in 1964. Is that not the best? I love well-done vintage.

And finally, be careful…very careful…when planning your reception menu. From the Manolo comes a news story about a suitcase full of monkey meat that found itself on the wrong side of the law.
A large suitcase containing the remains of 26 butchered monkeys was confiscated at Logan Airport in Boston on its way from Ghana. The 300 pounds of raw meat, destined to be served as the main course at a wedding in New Hampshire, was “oozing out of its container,” said Tom Healy of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Um, ew?

Oh my goodness! That’s horrible. I’ve definitely eaten my share of strange food, having traveled to other countries. But killing a bunch of monkeys for your wedding feast? Ugh! That grosses me out and gets my blood boiling. We have plenty to eat here, that is not necessary.
Rebecca looks lovely!
I have a good friend who has two older sisters. Both older sisters wore their mother’s wedding gown, but my friend was beyond relieved when – at her second sister’s wedding – the groom stepped right through the lace skirt and it couldn’t be repaired.
All in all, I have to agree with her: my friend has a completely different body type than her sisters and her mother, and while the gown looked lovely on them it would have looked awful on her! Thanks to Mark, she didn’t have to disappoint her mother by refusing to follow family tradition.
But if there’s a good wedding gown in the family and it’s a style that works on you, why not go for it?
You know, I’m a pretty adventurous eater, but I have to admit I have no great desire to try monkey meat…and after this story, I think I have even less interest in it.
Oh my God, gorgeous! I can’t think about monkey meat now, I have to find a sewing pattern to replicate that dress!
Isn’t it just super, cari? And so flattering!
