My last name is Carter (although my first name isn't actually Jane); it's short, phonetic, and in the last 100 years we've had a country music group (Carter Family) a president (Jimmy Carter) and at least two pop stars (Aaron and Nick Carter) with that last name--none of whom are any near relation to me. Considering this, you think people would be able to spell it? Nope--I get Carten, Cartier, Curter, etc. all the time. C*–that is really funny.
