A short review in pictures

Our cake, as crafted by the wonderful Teresa Palko. The tupperware container to the side contains our topper — statues of our three cats, created by our pal Oolong. Two of the cats had a slight accident on the trip home but were easily repaired with glue and a bit of quiet time.
Our centerpieces consisted of sandalwood-scented fans (to keep everyone cool), Moroccan-style tabletop lanterns set on golden charger plates, and delicate perfume bottles from Egypt. As it turns out, we could have skipped the fans — copious winds warded off heat stroke while also knocking over all the pretty little bottles.
And finally, here is my grandmother’s house and our massive tent as seen from the end of the dock where we of course took some very lovely photos that I’m not likely to see for some time as the world of professional Florida-based photography apparently moves slower than a sated gator.
As an aside, in the near future I plan to review some of those name change kits you inevitably see advertised in the Google sidebars whenever you search for anything wedding related. While you don’t need one of these kits to change your name post-nuptials, they can be helpful when you’re trying to remember which agencies, organizations, and services will be interested in your new nom de plume. Some of the kits I’m looking at are The Wedding Sense Name Change Guide and Kit for New Brides (Modern Guide for Brides) and The Ultimate Wedding Name & Address Change Kit. I’m steering clear of ones with names like The Name Change Kit For Brides With Brides Name Change Software, however.

I’m loving the Moroccan lanterns. R and I met in Morocco so we are having a few Moroccan touches in our wedding as well…

It’s amazing. You really should take a trip there. The weather is nice, the people are nice, there’s great shopping, great food…what more could one want on a vacation?

And remember, for brides who are NOT inclined to change their names, it is by no mean required, no matter what people try to tell you!

Your location is absolutely gorgeous! I’m looking forward to those reviews. I’m so stressed out with wedding planning (plus job changes, moving, etc) I’m not even thinking about changing my name yet. Do you have to worry about it before the wedding or can I put it of until after the honeymoon?

Kiwi: Right you are! More and more people are opting to keep their names, while some couples are even making up new ones!
Dianasaur: It’s actually better to wait until after your honeymoon, as you are better off using your original IDs/passport so you don’t have to worry about rushing through the name-change process.
