A Western wedding that didn’t make me hork
By Never teh BrideThis past weekend, Rebecca Romijn showed the world the right way to wear a light, airy, summery wedding dress. Her floor-length Ralph Lauren frock not only looks beautiful, it also looks comfortable. And don’t she and that Jerry O’Connell fellow look absolutely smitten with one another?
From what I could tell by taking a gander at the photos over at A Socialite’s Life, the new Mr. and Mrs. Romijna-O’Connell-Whatever had their guests sitting on bales of hay covered in country quilts. I can’t say I’m a big fan of theme nuptials, but when they are wonderfully underdone like this Western wedding, they can be super!

The wedding looks so cute, but this is a pairing I do not understand. Did someone forget to tell RR that she’s really not obligated to continue marrying B-list guys?

Does it matter what list he’s on as long as she’s not going to divorce him?

I’m glad they threw quilts over the hay bales because I can tell you from three decades of Renaissance Faires, they are damn uncomfortable to sit on because hay gets EVERYWHERE…and that’s while wearing three layers of heavy skirts. I really wouldn’t want to chance it in something I’d wear to a summer wedding.
Still, it all looks very pretty and the happy couple look utterly smitten with one another. What more do you need for a good wedding? I wish them all the best.

I just can’t get past her dumping Uncle Jessie, um, I mean John Stamos. I agree that the flip flops are a cute idea, even without a western theme. Kate Parker Weddings has something similar for sale on her site, with a fair number of colors to choose from.

We did the flip-flip baskets at my wedding, and they were a huge hit. I think I provided around 50 pairs (for a 150 person reception), and all night I had people asking if we had any more. I planned ahead and bought them on end-of-summer clearance for less than $1 a pair. You can see me holding them here. (I swear the person next to me is clothed. I’m not quire sure what is going on there.)

Love you dress, Toni. But it really does look like there was some nudity at your nuptials!
