That dress number 2, for brides, looks pretty nice in the photo at least.

Personally, I'd get a kick out of wearing a $150 dress if I could find one I liked.

Yeah, they used to have bridal salons in the stores as well, but they lost them at some point in the '90s. They also had a separate catalogue for bridal for a long time (which I also perused and pictured myself in the dresses).
When my sis got married in '88, my dress was from Penney's, as their delivery jived with the 6 week wedding planning (after a four year engagement, they decide to get hitched in 6 weeks...and no she wasn't pregnant). Oddly enough, we were at Goodwill this summer and they had a dress just like it on the rack. My sister and I had a good chuckle over it.

Anyhow, I

I'm glad someone else has confessed to looking at JC Penny's bridal section and daydreaming about her wedding. It was the first thing I'd turn to when we got the catalog, and it was also a handy source of inspiration for future prom dresses. But I grew up in a hick town in a pre-internet era!

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding where the dresses came from the JC Penney outlet, so the price was even better!

When I was married 25 years ago, I had bridesmaids coming from different cities & states. So we went the JC Penney routh. They managed to somehow all buy DIFFERENT dresses, in slightly different shades of blue, but the overall effect was lovely.

JC Penny has carried bridal/bridesmaids dresses for decades. I remember looking at the pictures in the catalogue and dreaming about my wedding day when I was a little girl. They've always been more about budget than big dreams, but they've had them since at least the late 1960's.
