I hate to ask, but are these shoes catching?
By Never teh BrideI happened upon an older post on the Shoe Blog today, and it caught my eye. In it, the Manolo linked to “the wedding shoes of ugliness at the high prices,” so I had to go take a look.

Oh, Peter Fox, you kooky guy. I like a little embroidery as much as the next gal, but this is just too much of a good thing. As in, so much of a good thing that the thing itself has become bad. Very, very bad. I look at this shoe and all I can think of is MRSA, that new drug-resistant staph strain that’s all over the news.
That is not a good association. All in all, I much prefer footwear that isn’t exhibiting outward signs of infection, like so:

Ooh! I love elegant, lower-heeled shoes.

And this is why there is chocolate and vanilla. Not to mention strawberry, butterscotch, and a horde of others. I would wear these very happily. I would love them, and care for them, and I do not deny the possibility that I would stitch pearls onto them as well.
On the other hand, there is little to no likelihood of my ever wear a strapless dress. So: chocolate and vanilla, as above.

My shoes look a great deal like the peep-toe ones in the bottom row…but mine are red. Definitely more strawberry than vanilla, as La BellaDonna would have it.

Heck yes, La BellaDonna! It would be a pretty boring world if every bride walked down the aisle wearing the exact same strapless a-line gown and plain pumps.
Funny thing: I hate the pattern on the shoe, but I would love it on the bodice of a gown.

Gotta say, I”m lovin’ those shoes. Very Marie Antoinette. Tney do need to be paired with the absolutely right gown, though, or fashion disaster could be in the making.

I bought a pair of Peter Fox shoes for my wedding, and they are super duper comfy. Nice construction, worth the $$$

Gemdiva, you have a good eye. They are, indeed, something of a pastiche of 18th century styles. That said, I’ve seen 18th century pastiche shoes I’ve liked a whole lot more – and I have a particular fetish for footwear of that era.

Those shoes are waaaaaaay too fussy and baroque for the average dress or person. You’d have to be one in a million to carry those off, but I’d love to see it done right.

My post disappeared! Anyway, I like those shoes. Yes, they’re a bit overly fussy, but they’re for a wedding gown! I love Peter Fox shoes, as I love retro and old-fashioned style shoes. Before I had chosen a gown, I knew I wanted Peter Fox shoes. However, my beloved made a request: he’s not quite 2″ taller than I, and he asked that I not be taller than he on our wedding day. So…I had to find flats or shoes with no higher than 1.5″ heels. Peter Fox doesn’t have anything that low (they did have one clearance shoe, but it was too plain, and didn’t have my size anyway.) I found a gorgeous pair of Benjamin Adams shoes from the UK, which were incredibly comfy and got many compliments, but I still get wistful over Peter Fox’s Annabel and Georgina shoes.

Sorry about that, Pencils. That happens to me every so often as well, but I have no clue as to why!

I love the first shoes!

I love these shoes. Rose wore them in Titanic for the dinner/dancing scenes died black, and they were worn with her “heaven” dress as well.
Peter Fox shoes are timeless and beautiful, but to each his own.
