There’s nothing like looking right into someone else’s wedding. It’s what inspires us to search Flickr for photos tagged with ‘wedding,’ ‘bride and groom,’ and ‘wedding cake.’ It’s what keeps us going back to The Knot, even though said site can be irritatingly cloying. Heck, it’s what prompts me to open my e-mail every morning — whenever one of you sends me a wedding snapshot or a link to your wedding pics, I DEVOUR them.
If you’re a bride-to-be who likes to walk the road less traveled, checking out other chicks’ weddings can also help you come to terms with your own choices. There’s something comforting in knowing you’re not alone in wanting to wear green cowboy boots with your gown or proudly rock your ink.
So my newest addiction? It’s the Weddings We Loved board over at Kvetch@IndieBride. I’ve posted a selection of pics below and ask the hotlinking gods’ forgiveness. All the snaps are from different nuptials, but you can click on them to see more images from all of them.

Love it? Of course I do…if you couldn’t already tell, I’m about the world’s biggest sucker for a good wedding. Heck, I’ll even happily look at good photos of bad weddings and bad photos of great weddings!
But maybe you disagree? It’s pretty easy to fall into the trap of thinking “She wore green boots so I can’t wear green boots because I don’t want to be some kind of poser…but, damnit, I love green boots!” How much time did (or do) you spend looking at pics of other people’s weddings versus pics of specific products? And how inspirational have those images been?
Holy crap, that’s my wedding! (the one of us on the playground)
Thanks, NtB!
ZOMG, mle! That’s my favorite shot in NtB’s article!
They all rock, though. It’s just kilts make me a happy woman, particularly when shown in conjunction with playground equipment. It’s a specific fetish, yes, but it works for me.
I wasn’t hooked in to the internets when I got married, but I do know that every wedding I attended from the time I was aware of the significance of the ceremony was carefully observed for ideas about what to do and what not to do when it came my turn.
Awesome, mle! I love your photos — especially the one of the guys flashing the lake 😉 I’m also a huge fan of mixing it up when it comes to bridesmaid garb, so I really enjoyed peeking into your wedding!
the fact that the guys are wearing Converses is pretty cool too!
I have to say that they do look surprisingly RIGHT, Sunflowery. If you’d asked me to give it a thumbs up based on how it looked in my imagination, I’d have laughed. After actually seeing how good it looks, I’ve changed my mind, obviously.
oh, i waste a *lot* of time obsessing over “weddings we love.” it’s idea overload.
With only 5 months to plan, I didn’t spend much time looking at pictures of other people’s weddings. I spent most of my wedding website time starting here or The Knot. My tiara and veil were from Princess Bride, which I first saw here. A lot of our ideas came from our interests and trying to make our wedding as interesting to our guests as possible.
Since we’re ballroom dancers and our reception was going to be ballroom music, we had our coach teach a group lesson while we took pictures. We also had a short dance show that we and our friends performed in after the cake was cut. Our other big thing was that since our wedding was my grandparents’ 65th wedding anniversary, we made a point to recognize them, both at the ceremony and at the reception.
