You Wouldn’t Like Me When I’m…Getting Married

By Twistie

I have a deep love for couples who take the time to really craft weddings that will be meaningful to them in some special way. Whether they stick with time-honored traditions because they love and believe in them or strike out into new territory by rejecting or adapting traditions that don’t suit them, they make the wedding fit them to a tee.

And that’s why I have to sort of love this wedding cake:

According to the article, this couple chose to have a superhero wedding. Why? Because they love comic books and superheroes. The groom wore a green tie and the bride a green sash to signify their mutual love of The Hulk as well as of each other. Standing next to The Hulk atop their wedding cake is Wonder Woman.

Okay, so I wouldn’t have wanted a bright green cake with The Hulk standing on top of it, but it seems to have worked for them.

Speaking of weddings that seem to have worked for the couple involved, here’s an article about a British couple who got married at work…in a grocery store.

As I said, these weddings are not for everyone. The important thing to take away is that there’s plenty of room for imagination and personal expression when you’re planning your wedding. Feel free to choose a theme that’s not exactly standard, an unusual setting, less than traditional vows, or an unexpected form of decoration.

After all, it’s your wedding. You should be clearly visible in it.

I find it very entertaining that the Hulk is much smaller than wonder woman.

I think if we had a superhero cake topper my guys would be Deadpool and I’d probably have Storm.

But what would really make it cool is if we built them out of legos. Now that would be a sweet cake topper.

I’d noticed that, too. Kind of amusing, no?

A Leggo cake topper could be pretty cool. And talk about a DIY project anybody could do!

  3. Bernadette Says:

    Our fantasy cake topper:
    1. The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend or…
    2. The Tardis with Dr. Who and Companion

  4. Annalucia Says:

Oh - yes to the Tardis, Bernadette. With the Fourth Doctor and Leela.

blablover5: Lego cake toppers are pretty popular, if my Google image search results are any indication!

Bernadette: The newer Doctor Who figures are only 5.5″ tall — a size that would look right at home on top of a medium-sized wedding cake! They’re easy to find on Amazon.

I’d like Nine and Sarah Jane Smith, please.

I know, I know, they didn’t interact, but they’re my faves.

But maybe I should let Mr. Twistie choose his favorite Doctor…in which case I think we’re probably talking either Two or Four, both of whom I love, too.

  7. Pencils Says:

We almost went with Superman and Wonder Woman on top of our wedding cake. We call each other that sometimes (blush.) Last Christmas I gave my husband a bathrobe with “Superman” embroidered on the left breast instead of a monogram. (Lands End is great for that sort of thing.)

Why didn’t we do it? I couldn’t find figures that I liked for each that were approximately the same size, and in the end I’m afraid I went for “pretty” rather than cute.

  8. Little Red Says:

I think I’m pretty incapable of being attracted to a non-geek so I’d love a Star Trek themed wedding cake for mine.

  9. Twistie Says:

Little Red, I may be a tidge biased what with having married a geek and all, as well as being one myself, but I think geeks make the best spouses.
