LOVE/HATE: The Little Nip Edition

By Never teh Bride

Brides with flasks hold a special place in my heart. Hey, the brides least likely to have a little calming nip on their wedding days are those who typically don’t drink at all. The brides who roll with a flask in hand are usually cool chicks or at least look like cool chicks in photographs, anyway.

This edition of LOVE/HATE isn’t so much about brides with flasks — whether to imbibe or not is a personal decision — but rather about brides who wear their flasks. The only flask garters I could find two years ago were boring to look at and sold only sporadically. Nowadays, plenty of crafters make and plenty of sellers stock tiny flasks that fit in tiny pockets affixed to pretty garters.

I suppose I love them, though I imagine they would not be quite as feather-light as the lovely garter I wore on my wedding day. What say you?

Great idea! Who doesnt need a little nip to scare off the wedding jitters?

  2. Angela Says:

Ooh I like garter flasks. I get the feeling I’d defeat the purpose by hiking up my skirt and showing everyone… Assuming I ever get married. Assuming I’d be doing it in a dress…

For the drunk on the sly groom, there’s also this handsome walking stick!!!

    All for it!

We made sure to bring Matt’s flask that I had gotten him to our area of wedding-ness, but he left it in his hotel room! I wish I had had a garter flask, though.

troilinka: I know I certainly enjoyed the glass of champagne I sipped while having my hair and makeup done!

Angela: Don’t be so sure — there are pictures of me hiking up my dress and showing people my garter, as it was a very lovely one made by a friend of mine. If you have legs, show us!

    T. Beard: Hello, dahlink! Thanks for helping nip-loving grooms get in on the action!

A.J.: Aw, nuts! No nips for you guys!

  6. Jenn Says:

As the owner of the leg in that picture, I (clearly) love the flask idea. I’m also happy to report that, while the garter wasn’t feather light, it also wasn’t so heavy that it kept slipping down my leg. And it did help enlighten the pre-ceremony mood with a little bit humor to keep my nerves down!
