Lovely In Leather?

By Never teh Bride

When I think of wedding gown fabric, my thoughts tend to turn to silks, satins, and other soft and swishy fabrics. I’m probably not alone in that. But, hey, there’s always leather…yep, I said leather, and I’m not talking about some black biker get-up most often seen on brides whose grooms are wearing shirts that say “If you can read this, then the bitch fell off.”

After a quick look around the intertubes, I found three very different leather wedding dresses that run the gamut from classic to sexy to kind of hippie-ish.

This gown, designed by Ava Marie Couture, is made of lightweight lambskin leather in creamy white and lined with satin. It costs a whopping $4,350, but that doesn’t surprise me when I compare it to the cost of a very fine made-to-order leather jacket. Detachable straps are available.

Lux Tenebrae has created a £900 bridal corset and skirt combo from stark white lambskin leather. Not for the faint of heart, this number features a body-hugging mermaid silhouette, a side slit that goes all the way up, and molded cups that boost the bust in a big way.

organic wedding dress

Finally, we have a somewhat unusual wedding wrap dress from Organic Leather. Organic suede drapes over the body, plunging at the bust and coming dangerously close to revealing everything at the crotch. Tone down the slit a tad — or secure the wrap a bit more tightly — and you’ll look less like Stands With a Fist.

Yes! I had silver metallic lambskin in my dress!

Wow, awesome, Kate! No one I know personally has had any leather at all in their dresses, but I think it’s a cool idea.

I love leather, especially deer suede, which I work in for most of my gowns. Look at the “Swept Away” collection I have created on my web site http://WWW.Montanadreamwear.com . I use combinations of hand dyed silks and other organic materials, which really work with the natural beauty of deer suede.
