How Much For That Gown?
By Never teh BrideIt’s time for a guessing game.

I want to know how much you think this open backed, sized-to-order silk chiffon wedding dress costs. It could be $5,000…it could be $500. I don’t have a lot of details other than that it is available in white or black, it’s tight fitting, and it comes with a short bustle, though I do know how much it costs. If you can’t even begin to guess how much the above wedding dress costs, answer me this: How much do you think is should cost?
(the answer — no peeking!)

I’m guessing somewhere in the 2-3k range.

Yikes. I don’t want to be mean, but this reminds me a lot of those toilet paper wedding gowns. Also, I’m pretty sure part of her tush is showing through the ties on the “skirt.”
I’d say it *should* cost around $350, unless the material is much more expensive than I’m giving it credit for.

I think I’ve seen this one on Etsy… and it’s in the $300-400 range, but I could be mistaken.

I thought it was a shower, wrap the bride up into a makeshift “dress” sort of thing. I don’t know if I should feel bad or not…

I’ll go with $1 Bob.
I’ll be the low guess and say $1000, the materials can’t cost that much but getting someone to stand perfectly still while you wrap them up in it is gonna get pricey.

The mummy’s sister called. She wants her prom dress back.
Honestly, I think the fabric is great, but I hate the dress they made out of it. Still, it clearly took work and only someone who makes high-end stuff would do this.
I’m going to go with 3 - 4k.

I doubt it is less than $5,000. Note the gathered lace on the underskirt, the raw edges on the ends of the wrap and finished edges on the tiers of the sheer overskirt. The fabric width is perfect for creating folds that drape well. There’s considerable thought and work in it, actually.

I peeked but I thought about $2500. I was surprised that it was much less. For the right person with the right wedding I think it would work.

That shows too much skin for a wedding dress. It’s better for another occasion, one where it’s ok to get trashed, maybe.

I guessed it was $1K, I hoped it was less than that.. but my gut said it had to be more! It was refreshing to see the actual price- yay for handmade!

Based on the fact that I can see the selvage edge on the “bustle” and anyone with the stones to sell a wedding dress with that still there should be smacked…
I’m gonna guess homemade for about $100 if that’s silk, or under $50 if it’s not.

pros: very original dress- may fit with an edgy, artsy personality, not too expensive for being sold outside the realm of JC Penney’s and David’s Bridal.
cons: ugly as sin, ill fitting and inappropriate to boot.

Guessing by the amount of dress missing, I’m going to aim in the $3-5K range. It seems like the more you pay, the less amount of dress you actually get, at least from certain designers.
Although, to be fair, it looks like they used enough FABRIC for 2-3 normal dresses. They just rolled it up and wound it around the model, and then taped carefully.

A$$ crack!! Gorgeous dress, but for a wedding? I just turned to my bf and said, if we ever got married, would you want everyone at the wedding able to also see my crack? Your mom? Your lewd BIL? I suppose if you’re doing a very adult wedding and inviting very adult people, this dress would be perfect. And more affordable than I would have thought for the creative and innovative draping.

I think it is wonderful wedding dress. My vote is for somewhat more than $1,000.

That’s funny Jennie! When I first glanced at the picture I thought it was a winner for the toilet paper wedding dress contest. Then it reminded me of the bandaging job the ER did on me after my first date with my husband (major bicycle crash with lots of road rash). After that I couldn’t actually imagine it as chiffon, but I’ll guess $1000.
