This is one of the few gowns that gets a complete, no-holds-barred Eccchhhh from me. I don’t care for the colour, which would make me look like a leprous corpse; the fact that it’s silk satin tells me that every crease and mark will show; unless it’s fortified with 58 steel stays, the top will neither stay up nor support; and if I’m going to wear panniers, I’ll take mine out of the top of my closet, and wear a gown that’s meant to go over them and DO IT RIGHT. This is an utterly flaccid evocation of a dress, IMO.

Love the bodice, hate the skirt. Even better, though, it looks like the model was only shown the top before putting it on. Her look clearly says “you put me in what? you douche!”

Definite hate, except for the color.

The problem with this gown is that it won’t go minimalist, in that the saddlebags were added, but then the designer was afraid to go balls out over the top with it once he’d added the saddlebags.

If you’re going to put such a thoroughly maximalist touch on a gown, you really do have to go all out with it…not that I think it would be terribly pretty in that case. Still, balls out would at least look amusing or horrifying rather than sadly ridiculous. Given full reign, the OTT design could even go beyond ugly to a form of charming. Left at this, it’s just Prom Queen Gone Wrong.

This dress dies with a whimper rather than a bang.

A cross between Ren Faire and prom–the poufs are on a split overskirt if I’m reading the photo right, but what’s the point when the underskirt is the same fabric and color? It’s not in period, and it’s not an attractive variation.

This is the worst case scenario for pick-ups gone wrong.

Forget the saddlebags. It looks like a prom dress, not a wedding dress. I’ve got no love for it, even though I agree thAT the color is nice.

Wow. Way to take a boring gown and ugly it up, Mr. Designer. Nice work!

They do get points for the creamy, gold-ish ivory color, though. The fabric looks lovely.
