Very Rewearable

…if, that is, you and your bridesmaids frequently find yourselves in situations where a brilliant silk shantung, faille, or Indian cotton sateen dress is an appropriate uniform. I only just today stumbled upon Coren Moore’s lovely bridesmaids dresses and wedding dresses, but I’m already enamored.

Coren Moore bridesmaids dresses

While her models, like almost all bridal models, need to stop looking so darned uncomfortable — seriously, is “Oh God, not another picture” the best expression faux brides and bridesmaids can give us? — the dresses are almost all cute and fun. Moore doesn’t muss things up with a lot of crazy embellishments or fussy details. Plus, almost all of Moore’s bridesmaids dresses price in at under $300, which isn’t exactly cheap, but is still in line with what many bridesmaids expect to pay for a dress, aaaaand you can order online.

Pretty, but not quite spectacular enough for the price, especially the basic strapless versions. I do agree that some of the more interesting styles are more special.

i wish that under $300 wasn’t what was expected! :)

Toni: I am partial to the dress on the left, but I totally agree with you, particularly when it comes to the rather plain dress on the right. The center dress… that I waver on. I’d look awful in it, but it could be lovely on someone skinnier than myself!

Very Married: Oh, how I agree. $300 is nothing to sneeze at, though when you think of the cost of some bridesmaid dresses, it’s positively reasonable. My favorite bridesmaid experience was having the bride tell me to pick out any dress in purple. I found a gorgeous one for under $100 at a department store.

The dress on the right, in what looks like white piqué, is actually more complexly cut and fitted (IMO) than the other two! Take another look at it: it’s a NON-basic princess cut, with a seam at the waist AND under the bust, as well as in the skirt and the bodice pieces, and it fits very well through the shoulders and around the neck – if it’s a halter style, it fits REALLY REALLY well through the shoulders and around the neck, with no gapping, and the collar lying as it should. The other two are nice enough, but they will not be flattering to the majority of women. That dress on the right is going to look really good, even on those who aren’t bone-thin. The other two dresses stand a good chance of looking poufy, bunchy and baggy on anyone who’s not really slim and/or small-busted. Even a busty woman can look good in the dress on the right, because of the way it’s cut.

Good to know, La BellaDonna! I’m always on the lookout for dresses that will make me — the non stick thin woman — look good.
