Weddings at La Casa di Giulietta
By Never teh BrideThose brides (and perhaps grooms) whose hearts are set aflutter thinking about Romeo wooing Juliet can soon see their Shakespearean dreams come true* because authorities in the Italian city of Verona have decided to allow weddings to take place at La Casa di Giulietta. Specifically, the city will permit couples to exchange vows on the balcony where, according to William Shakespeare, Romeo macked on Juliet.

While evidence proving that La Casa di Giulietta was the home of the Cappello family upon which the Capulets were based is flimsy at best, that doesn’t stop lovebirds from visiting the balcony, making the 14th century building one of Verona’s most visited tourist sites. And, as of next month, that tourist site will become a wedding ceremony venue for anyone with a Romeo and Juliet fetish and $770 to $1,300 to spend.

If their was any actual connection to the story, son’t you think that this would be sort of a jinxed location for a wedding?
Unless you were eloping and then intended to commit double suicide?
Personally I really hope that, for me at least, married life will have a much less exciting ending

It’s a beautiful spot, but I must admit I wouldn’t pick a wedding site based on a strong connection with such a tragic tale. Like, I wouldn’t want to pick the spot where Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, either.
Call me wacky and superstitious, but I’m glad I didn’t get married in a Romeo and Julietcentric place.

Oh so romantic! Even though the tale had a tragic ending it is the romance of the story that makes the location special. Lots of girls wanted to be princess Diana and her story did not end so well either – that does not stop girls from dreaming of the fairy tale wedding.

Roya: And less tragic, too. I’ve always been a bit confused by these so-called romantic tales where everyone ends up dead or alone at the end.

sorry, all I could think of was – ‘…macked on Juliet’ – fricking hilarious!
