One Sweet Wedding

The fabulous and talented Toni pointed me toward this very sweet wedding, and I’m glad she did. I’m always psyched to see unusual weddings where the bride and groom have really gone all out when it comes to a theme. While I wouldn’t recommend that all brides and grooms take the route that Michelle Rosen and David Zornitsky took, it is fun to see how they envisioned and executed their candy-themed affair.

The bride wore a borrowed dress made of candy wrappers that was designed for “Project Runway, and the couple said their vows in Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York.

Rabbi Douglas Sagal officiated beneath a wedding canopy of giant Whirly Pops and candy-colored balloons.

I wish I could say those gals in blue are the bridesmaids, but I believe they are employees of the candy shop.

The bride snacking with her son Ian Rosen post-ceremony. According to the NYT, “[The couple]‘s 50 guests dined on peanut butter and jelly tarts and candy sushi (coconut rice, Swedish Fish and Fruit Roll-Ups) while the couple danced to ‘Sugar, Sugar.’” Looks tasty, no?

The groom looks an awful lot like Peter Stormare. V-Dub in da haus!

Whee! I’m just impressed that the dress held up.

My first thought when I saw the bride’s dress was ‘wait a minute…didn’t I see that one on Project Runway? Did someone actually recreate it?’ I really did enjoy that episode. The designers came up with some really interesting ways of using all the Hershey’s products…and a few of them looked quite bilious along the way from eating the goodies as they unwrapped them. Nice to know that the dress in question (one of my faves from the challenge) got to take another walk down another runway.

While I usually consider ‘wedding’ to be plenty of theme for a wedding, I do think if a couple is going to do a theme, then they need to really DO the theme. This couple shows us how it’s done. They’ve found a point where the theme is carried out in just about every aspect without feeling merely silly. Instead it comes across to me as fun, witty, and charming. Kudos to them!

Oh, and many years of joy.

This looks like so much fun … but I think it also just made me break out.
