LOVE/HATE: The I’m (Maybe) Too Sexy Edition

pink-wedding-gown

For today’s saucy, sexy, and extremely slinky edition of LOVE/HATE, I’ve found a gorgeous example of an overbust corset in a basque style that features a fab black lace overlay matched with a skirt that screams va-va-va-voom. Done entirely in silk dupioni, it is a creation of Fairy Gothmother in London.

My verdict? I would have needed about six layers of Spanx to ensure a smooth silhouette under that fishtail skirt, and the whole thing would have scandalized my very conservative paternal family, whether worn at a wedding or not at a wedding. And maybe it’s not the most wedding-y of wedding dresses, though it is available in bridal white or ivory for those who prefer that over blush pink, jewel red, jade green, or royal purple. But still, I’m entirely in love (as if you couldn’t already tell).

What say you? Too sexy for a bride? Just sexy enough?

I want to hate it, and I certainly could never pull it off, but yet I can’t stop looking at it. I would say it’s no more sexy than many other wedding dresses, it’s just a helluva lot more sassy. If you can pull it off, more power to you!

i love it, i reckon it just sexy enough. Of course you would have to have the right body shape for it but if you did i would say go for it. If i dident already have my weddding dress i would love this in red.

I’ve just never been a big fan of the strapless wedding gown, but this is – as jstar says – a seriously sassy piece that would be spectacular on the right woman. She’d have to have the right figure and the right attitude, but she would be utterly awesome.

Oh, and can I just say here that I’m about to reach into the photo and steal that top hat? I admit that I would change the feathers out for a different color, like red, perhaps, but I rock a topper and that cascade of feathers makes me squee with delight.

  4. That is a cool dress, but it does not scream “wedding” to me and I, in my conservative tastes, would find it inappropriate for a church wedding, as it seems to belong in a forty-niners bordello, but that’s just moi.

I hate the pink (don’t ask me why) and, like jstar, I want to hate the dress, but I can’t seem to manage it. Would not and could not wear it, but I agree, on the right person it might really wow.
And, as far as the sexiness question goes, considering some of the hootchieriffic stuff that gets sold as wedding dresses, this is downright restrained.

  6. I love it fiercely, it’s definitely sexy but not in a trampy way. Completely fabulous, if I were getting married again I might just consider it šŸ™‚

Oh man, I wish I were the girl that could pull this one off! I love it – but wouldn’t & couldn’t do it myself. My MIL would die – maybe I should show her this pic!

I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!! But then again, I have a bit of a soft spot for Fairy Gothmother anyway. lol. If I’d found that dress before I bought the one I settled on, I totally would’ve gone for it. Honestly, i think it’s still pretty conservative in comparison to some of the dresses I saw during my quest for the perfect dress.

Nope. Looks like a costume and I hate the bows, especially the one below the butt.

  10. Oh wow! That is uber hot! I absolutely LOVE IT! I just asked my fiancee… He raised his eye brow when I said “what do you think?” When I added “for a wedding gown?” He almost choked…lol… He said “NO!!” I think it’s amazing though! And fortunately for me, I know my mother and his mother would both think it was the best!! Not sure what dad would say, lol šŸ™‚ I may not go with the hat though… It works with the dress, but! it’s a bit boyish for a bride!

Maybe I’m showing my age but it looks very 80s to me. I adore the top hat though, I’ve always wanted to wear a riding habit. Anyway, it does look trashy to me, maybe it’s the combination of black and pink and tight.
