Veils are uncontestedly the go-to accessory for brides-to-be, even if they later decide to walk down the aisle bareheaded or wearing a hat or hairpins. At the same time, as beautiful as bridal veils are, they can also be heavy (in the case of cathedral length veils) or unwieldy (in the case of shoulder length veils and fingertip length veils that catch on necklaces and earrings or blow wildly in wedding day wind).

L.A.-based stylists Jen Gotch and Jamie Coulter crafted these gorgeous bridal headpieces using materials sourced at swap meets and estate sales. Their creations are inspired by everything from seriously old school Parisian fashions to the classic 1960s flower child, and prices start at $75, which isn’t bad for something being marketed toward brides.
I’m just going to shoot my mouth off and say that I LOVE these bridal headbands brought to my attention by Glinda of teeny Manolo fame. Love love love. Gimme diamonds or gimme rhinestones, I don’t care which. Put them on a well styled headband and I’m pretty well immediately sold.
What say you?
these look great although from my point of view I like the traditional long vail flying in the wind – it makes for a great pictures.
They are gorgeous!
I like the second one, but the first one looks like some kind of glittery cephalopod stuck in her head.
And I also love real veils, everything from birdcages to long ones and heavy lace ones. They look lovely blowing in the wind, and they look lovely in the traditional “veil over the face” photograph. However, my fingertip veil blew off during the ceremony, and it wasn’t a very windy day. (My sister, the matron of honor, caught it though.)
I love these, whether as an alternative to a veil, an anchor for the veil, or as something to change into for the reception.
Yes, the first one looks like some sort of glittery sea creature. Pencils sees a cephalopod, I see a kick line of starfish. Still, for a beach or tropical themed wedding, you couldn’t ask for something more appropriate. What can I say? I love aquatic creatures with a passion, and would probably wear one based on a puffer fish.
I wonder, do these come in more colorful versions? I find myself wanting one even though I’m not in the market for getting married ATM.
LOVE to both the design style, the believable price tag, and the recycling aspect.
Oh, I am a fan of almost anything sparkly or shiny! I confess, I might wear one of these in addition to a veil!
I, too, think the first one looks a bit like a manypede of some sort … but that’s OK. There’s many a biologically-inclined lassie who would LIKE a starfish, or a cephalopod, or a manypede, done in sparkles for her wedding day! I could totally see my sister the biologist wearing it. I particularly like both the band shown, and the ENORMOUS flower, which would spend the rest of its life after the wedding living on a series of hats.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder: I see flowers with long, skinny leaves in the first one. And I like it!
Vote for love! Not sure about the mugshot profile pictures, though.
