Sharp and Pretty: Pink and Green

By Christa Terry

I wear a lot of black and gravitate toward darker colors, but I’m still of the opinion that if you’re going to choose a bright color palette — for daily wear or a wedding color scheme — then go all the way! You can’t get much brighter than a cerise combined with a lime, a scheme that comes with the added benefit of beautiful contrast AND the ability to make whites pop like crazy. Take a look at Lauren and Jim’s pink and green wedding, which featured gorgeous flowers by the talented Krista Jon and was photographed by Greg Wyatt.

Love it!! The best part is that pink and green are so ubiquitous in wedding stuff and in that world that if they happen to be your wedding colors, you’re never going to have a hard time finding all those little things that make a wedding ensemble, a wedding ceremony, or a wedding reception great.

A quick search on Amazon returned a pretty flower girl dress, a pair of bouquets, a clutch for the bride or her bridesmaids, shoes that could peek enticingly out from under a wedding dress, a… colorful wedding ring set, and a necktie for the groom and his groomsmen. See, easy!

I like this combo a lot. Bright, zingy color makes me smile. It’s always saddened me that so many people seemed afraid of color in weddings in the past. Now you can do a great look like cerise and lime and actually find stuff for it readily available.

I’ve been toying with the idea of Magenta, Celery and Silver for my May wedding…having a hard time selling the man on Magenta, though…

  3. Never teh Bride Says:

Sounds lovely, Casey… perhaps your man would be more open to the idea if magenta was used as more of an accent color? It would really pop in that capacity, I should think, without being too girly.

Those pink and green shoes are AWESOME.

  5. Never teh Bride Says:

Seriously, Toni. I don’t where I’d wear them to or how I’d pull them off, but I loooove them.

My cousin and his Fiancee had this as their wedding color, and, being in a southern family,it was met with mixed reviews. But there was surprisingly a lot of pink and green out there, and the wedding was gorgeous, the corsages, the boutannierres, the reception, was all gorgeous
