Justin Alexander Wedding Dress » Manolo for the Brides

Two Different Sides of the Same Coin?

By Never teh Bride

I appreciate versatility. I really do. I like when the brains behind wedding dress collections give us both short sleeves and long, body-hugging silhouettes and big poufy gowns, and hemlines that are all over the map. But really, what is up with the wedding fashion house Justin Alexander? How can the same name that gave us this…

…also give us what looks to be a white cocktail mini-dress with chicken feathers randomly glued on?

Did they steal the design from the Ice Capades, or what?

(But seriously, don’t let that horrorshow above stop you from checking out PURE by Justin Alexander. It combines beautiful organic silk and cotton fabrics with natural embellishments like freshwater pearls and wood beads to create a line of eco-friendly — and 99% biodegradable, huh — wedding dresses that are just divine, especially for the destination bride. Note: Neither of the above wedding dresses are from the PURE collection.)

So chicken dress is la pukie, the first one is ok, but honestly, I’m kinda Meh on the collection as well. Maybe JA just isn’t my thing…

Jeez I’m tired after the long bridal season. And still they want me to create! Hmm Let me have my kindergartner do a glue project on a leftover cocktail dress. Oh wait, it should have a train! (I must have an old sheet around here somewhere – we’ll just pin it on the back, she doesn’t need to turn around for the photo).
there we go! job done for the day.

  3. Carla Says:

Destination weddings and “green” are a contradiction in terms, sure the dress is biodegradable (why!) but how about the carbon footprint of those 300 guests flying in for the weekend?

The first dress with the covered shoulders reminds of this photo shot of Queen Rania more than a bride. Lovely but…not bridal: http://www.concierge.com/cntraveler/articles/501369

That first dress is lovely. I really like that it has both sleeves AND a color that is definitely NOT white.

I can’t even imagine a person who’d wear the second dress, especially with the sheet hanging off the back. Yick.

he does have some not-so-bridal designs, but just look at this one from the signature collection: http://www.justinalexanderbridal.com/ja_en/justin-alexander-signature/9552.html
