I absolutely adored the wedding invitations my esteemed colleague showed us the other day by a pair of amazing DIY divas. Beyond fabulous stuff, that.
The sad truth, though, is that not everyone is able to pull off that level of design and execution by themselves. That’s when you need a professional to help you out.
The other day, Mr. Twistie met one such professional and pointed me at his wares.
The good folks at Volta Press do custom design and printing using the Letterpress method. They do some gorgeous wedding invitations, and they even have an Etsy Store where they sell them.
They aren’t cheap, $625.00 and $650.00 for invitations, reply cards and matching envelopes for both, based on an estimate of 100 each, but I’ve held a sample of their work in my hands and the paper is heavy and rich. The printing is clear and easy to read. This is a quality product. I also did a quick search and found that many companies that do letterpress wedding invitations would charge upwards of $1000.00 for a similar package, more often than not with either just the words or a standard graphic design without the visual punch of these.
And of course you don’t have to order 100. You can order as few as 25 or as many as 500. If you need matching programs, menus, or thank you notes, you can get those, too. They’ll also do custom work.
Seriously, it’s been a while since I held a piece of card in my hands that made me feel so decadent. It’s also not every day that I see graphics that combine such elegance with such whimsey. If you’re in the market for invites and thinking of going Letterpress, talk to these folk first. You’ll be glad you did.
