Yes, that’s right, I love Amy Jo Tatum. Not on a personal level, though I’m sure she’s a lovely person. It’s her wedding dresses that I love – from the fine fabrics, classic styles, and eco alternatives (for the bride with the environment on her mind).

One thing that makes Amy Jo Tatum’s wedding dress collection so versatile is the options. Customizable? Yep! Any dress you see in the collection can be made long, short or in-between. Same goes for sleeve length and necklines.

Her design career started some twenty years back when she did a three-year stint as a bridal fabrics buyer (lucky lady!). After that she opened Bridal Alternatives, a custom design studio and ever since has been working with brides who want that extraordinary, one-of-a-kind dress on their wedding day.

Chantilly lace, silk habotai, embroidered organza, and even wedding dresses with sleeves! Did I mention that Amy Jo Tatum also makes gorgeous veils and hats? Because she does. How does a wide-brimmed straw hat with hand-rolled silk dupioni cabbage roses sound?

It strikes me that while some wedding dress designers will find a niche and roll with it, Amy Jo Tatum is constantly reinventing herself, looking for new dress inspiration, both in the past and in the present day.

Sizes range from 4 to 20 and prices for wedding dresses start at $1,500. Not the least expensive wedding gown a bride can buy, but sometimes you really do get what you pay for!
