Inspiration: Parasols

Not a fan of bouquets? Or maybe you’re just uber allergic to flowers and can’t stomach faux blooms. In addition to alternative options like the traditional prayer books or candles, there are sweet and pretty choices like the parasol. Whether silk or paper, lace or something a bit more waterproof – since parasols and umbrellas have met in the middle in modern times, parasols are the perfect prop for the bride and the bridesmaid who want to unleash their inner divas (or get coy or radiate old fashioned charm).

Gorgeous, no? This would have been perfect for my Florida-in-May wedding, though the wind would have blown half of them into the river. Your wedding guests can also benefit from parasols if you’re marrying in a sun-drenched clime and can afford to spring for that many parasols. Guests get to keep heat stroke at bay, and you get the satisfaction of knowing that a goodly number of your loved ones will actually use your wedding favors again.

This is what my bridesmaids are carrying. The wedding is outside in August in GEORGIA! It’ll help keep the sun off and be beautiful, too.

  2. This is really is an awesome bouquet alternative. I’m not a big fan of strong scents too and I didn’t have the habit of smelling flowers since I’m very sensitive with strong scents I end up having an allergy.

I love parasols for weddings! They can be so much fun, and are also a pretty way to stay cool in the summer sun!
