Twistie’s Sunday Caption Madness: The I’ve Got Something in My Shoe Edition

Hey there, ladies, gentlemen, and those who have yet to make up their minds. It’s time once again to play Twistie’s Sunday Caption Madness!

The rules are simple. I post a picture that’s simply desperate for a good caption. You provide said captions via the comments function. Next week I declare a winner and we all have a good laugh together. At the caption, not the winner so much.

Anyway.

This week’s image comes from the ‘dude, I thought I stopped dropping acid years ago’ file and it looks a little like this:

Ready… set… snark!

LOVE/HATE: The Indoors Outdoors Edition

The recipe: A bride and a groom or a pair of brides and a pair of grooms plus a totally sweet couch plus a photogenic outdoor space and maybe a few cute side tables. Oh, and a wedding photographer.

Honestly, I kind of love it, but I also think it looks too staged. Because it is staged. And there’s nothing wrong with that, but I do wonder how couples will feel about outdoor couch wedding photos ten or twenty years from now. How about you? Would you designate someone to drag a couch out to your outdoor wedding venue or does the whole idea seem silly when you could just find a sweet wrought iron bench?

Inspiration: Beautiful Bridal Headbands

Not too much to say about these beautiful bridal headbands, other than that much like bridal ponytails, they are easy and unfussy and just about the simplest way to top off a DIY wedding hairstyle. Here’s a handful that I’ve found on my travels around the weddingsphere that I hope will inspire you!

Blue and White Porcelain Inspired Wedding Dresses

Aren’t these fantastic? The white wedding dress with the porcelain inspired lining is from the Christian Dior Spring 2009 Couture Collection, but as for the other two, the only results I could find came from web sites in Chinese.

Asian-inspired wedding fabulosity!

So good luck finding the two non-Dior gowns if you’re not fairly fluent in Chinese… My recommendation would be to find some amazing Asian porcelain inspired fabric and find an awesome seamstress to make you a custom wedding dress. Which would probably be cheaper than ordering from China, anyway.

One Way to Spice Up Your Wedding Favors

Spices! And/or herbs. Your options are wide open: mini jars, a custom spice blend, paper packets, a single herb, custom printed labels, a simple ribbon, etc. Spice wedding favors are probably a safer bet than other types of edible wedding favors – which are by far your favorite kind of favors if the polls I’ve posted are any indication – if only because more of your guests may find a use for an unfamiliar spice than would like something like truffles or maple syrup.

Totally DIYable, def

Just too cute - it's wedding thyme!

And if you love the idea but want to take it up a notch, you can always pair your spice wedding favors with a mini ceramic mortar and pestle, squee!

Yet another way to spice it up a little!

Bridesmaids: Put On Your Red Shoes and Dance the Blues

I love the red blue combo for wedding color schemes, for outfits, and for interiors. On a recent rainy yucky day, I wore bright red shoes with a dark blue dress and felt absolutely springy and fabulous in total opposition to the weather. So if you’re still shopping around for a wedding color scheme or a palette for your bridesmaid attire, consider red paired with blue. Or blue paired with red, if that’s how you prefer to think about it. Isn’t it a lovely fun and bright combo either way?

And the Winner of the Wedding Planning Book 4-Pack Is…

Free wedding books? Sweet!

The lovely Jennie! (And I’m not just calling her lovely because she said she wanted my book, mind you…) Her favorite flavor of wedding cake is classic vanilla, but she’s not averse to wackier options like Funfetti. Which I, too, would happily eat at a wedding or otherwise.

Be on the lookout for an email from me, Jennie, so we can work out the postal details, and congrats!

And P.S. – Speaking of contests, if you’re feeling kindly and would like to help a totally deserving couple win the Disney fairytale wedding of their dreams, this couple (who had micro-preemie twins and lost one soon after birth) could really use your votes!
