LOVE/HATE: The Flashdance Edition

WHAT IS HAPPENING???

First impressions, from my end: NOOOOOOO. Do not want. Maybe I’ll write a letter to Dessy letting them know that a huge bias ruffle trim at the neck – paired with what looks like a giant elastic belt, no less – isn’t going to flatter any bridesmaid ever. Look, maybe I’m just against this because I was a little kid in the 80s and the fashion of the day scared me. But I don’t think so. Hating the nouveau 80s bridesmaid dresses with a passion over here.

Would YOU wear it willingly? Or subject your bridesmaids to it?

No way! Fugly! Plus.one-shoulder dresses just don’t work for ladies with boobs bigger than a C, and you gotta respect your big-boobed bridesmaids.

For that ruffle to work, it needs to be a soft, flowing fabric. Not something stiff like taffeta. It looks so stiff it might cut anyone who tries to hug them wearer.

I don’t think it’s that bad. Impkitti is dead-on about the need to make the ruffle of something different; in fact, I’d suggest the entire dress should be made of something softer. But the thing I like most about it: It doesn’t scream, “BRIDESMAID DRESS!” Make it out of a different material and I think the dress could be worn as a cocktail dress.

(CAVEAT: I love the 80′s. Seriously. I loved the music, the style, and even the big hair.)
