Saying “I do” under a tropical sun

It’s hot and the weather report says it’s only going to get hotter. So why am I stuck inside with nothing but a desk fan and three needy cats to keep me company? Mostly because the money is good. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about an island paradise somewhere where I can wear a sarong in good conscience and put a flower in my hair. If your perfect wedding sounds something like that, why not get in touch with Island Importer? They will custom make your oh-so-tropical nuptials dreams come true with custom bridal and bridesmaid dresses, menswear, and accessories.

The Day’s Aside: Want to sweeten up your guests on the day of your wedding without spending big bucks? Incorporate Jelly Belly flavors that match your wedding colors into your favors. Me, I would have gone for toasted marshmallow and buttered popcorn, but I’m gross like that.

We honeymooned at the Sandals Grande on St Lucia and we saw at least one wedding each day, with the bridal couple dressed in everything from full-on tux and poufy wedding dress (looking uncomfortably hot) to destination wedding gowns and linen suits on the men. The best-dressed couple we saw both had purple leis (wrong island, but whatever) with the bride in a pretty white slipdress, and the groom in pale linen trousers and a crisp, snowy white guayabera. He looked great, very dashing and retro. They also looked cool and comfortable.

BTW, the Sandals Grande was wonderful, as long as you don’t mind being just one in a plethora of honeymooners. The resort is beautiful, the rooms comfortable and quiet, the beach is great, the pools are pristine, the staff is wonderfully friendly, and the views are incredible. Loved St Lucia the island too.

A tropical paradise wasn’t for me, but I have to say I love the look of the bridal party in the picture. I actually feel cooler just looking at their cute little sundresses…and I love orange and yellow.

    Buttered popcorn….yummm.

But I would let someone else have my toasted marshmallows. I don’t like marshmallows.

I think that wedding party is sort of adorable. But in a happy, casual, non stage-managed sort of way. A bride who could let go of the hyped trappings to this extent would probably have a really happy day.

The best wedding photos, IMHO, are those that feature just the sort of wedding party you describe, Lise in NJ. If everyone is having a good time, they will be naturally lovely!

I had an island destination wedding and we totally opted for the island feel and apparel…it was best decision we made! And I couldn’t agree with Lise in NJ any more…she hit the nail on the head! 🙂
