Ha! Fooled you! This is just a random shot from one of the Twilight films. Thing is, I know there are at least three Twihards out there who haven’t seen Breaking Dawn Part One yet, and I’m not going to spoil them. You’ll have to look under the cut.
And while it’s just us, I’m going to say right here and now that no, I do not like Twilight. I’m not a fan of vampires as heroes, particularly ones who sparkle.
There. I said it. I much prefer the LOLcats version. I believe it makes more sense and is better written, to boot.
But we’re not here to talk about Twilight as a whole. No, we’re here to talk about Bella’s much ballyhooed wedding gown, designed by Carolina Herrera… or at least the bargain movie tie-in by Alfred Angelo, which retails for $799.00. It looks like this:
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m kind of loving this. It’s rather elegant, with a bit of a slinky thirties vibe. I think the sleeves are pretty, and the lace over illusion back gives a bit of a wow factor to an otherwise simple gown. And at that price, it’s within reach of many a woman yearning for something that isn’t a strapless a-line or mermaid gown!
So here’s my vote: LOVE the dress, HATE the series… but I kind of have to thank the series for existing, because otherwise the dress (and the exponential number of knockoffs in the wings) might not have happened, and bridal couture would never include sleeves again.
Hate the series and a bit meh on the dress, really. Actually, the styling (mainly the model’s messy hair) is what my eyes get stuck on (like a young Moira Kelly, freaking out in Cutting Edge), then the super-shiny fabric.
But I do love the neckline and that the sleeves are real sleeves and not lace or illusion. The buttons down the back of the skirt are also a nice touch.
I just can’t help but think that material (on the AA version) would feel like a polyester nightgown *shudder*
Hate the series, unimpressed with the dress. Mostly because I feel like the front of the bodice looks cheap somehow. It’s way shiny, and I feel like it’s not going to do a girl with smaller boobs any favors. But if it brings and end to the reign of strapless / mermaid, then I’m all for it!
Love the back, no strong feelings towards the front. My dislike of the whole series kiiiind of makes me feel like I shouldn’t even like the back as much as I do though…
